Carolyn Hook Professor Dobbs English 101, Sections 61843 October 20, 2017 Synthesis of Female vs Male Stereotypes I will be looking at the two articles, What it means to ‘Be a Man’: How male Gender Stereotypes Try to Fit Growing Boys into a Mold, and Fail by Samantha Olson and the other article is I Want a Wife by Judy Brady. ’Synthesis is the combining of separate elements or substances to form a coherent whole. The combining of the constituent elements of separate material or abstract entities into a single, or merged unit (opposed to analysis,) the separating of any material or abstract entity into its fundamental elements. (http://www.dictionary.com/) The purpose of doing a synthesis easy is to build a connection, to make†¦show more content†¦They portray the female as a person who did the cooking, cleaning, taking care of the kids while the men are doing the things they want going to work, going out with friends. Looking at the article by Samantha Olsen, it is about where we prepare boys to be tough, not to cry, suck it up if they get hurt or have their feeling s hurt and to be a man at a young age. We can see how wrong this is in both articles because females are not a slave to their husbands and boys are not men and need to be able to feel what they want or need to at any age. In the first article, she uses personal experiences to show how men think of women as taking care of all their needs, as well as the children and their needs, also be able to fit in what her needs are while he does what he wants to do. In personal experience, I did not have this type of life we choose to do the chores and the other duties together as a family that works together to help each other not to put more stress on one or the other. In the second article, she writes about how boys are treated differently from girls. They are told if one of your peers also, need to be tough guys not to girls we are weak and emotional. However, the way we hit you hit them back that they are not supposed to cry, don’t act that way be a man about it, expect and teach boy s to be this big masculine, macho, tough person.
